This is not very fancy but just what the doctor ordered for a healthful start to the day. So easy and tasty too!
Easy Berry Banana Smoothie
For each serving, place in blender…
1/2 cup fat-free Greek yogurt (double the protein of regular yogurt)
1/2 cup frozen berries of choice
1/2 cup banana slices (I use frozen sliced super ripe bananas that I keep handy)
Splash of milk, juice, or water
Bit of real vanilla extract (vanilla bean flecks would be yummy!)
Squirt local organic honey
Blend until smooth, adding liquid of choice as needed for desired consistency. Enjoy in good health!

Looks tasty! We have a daily smoothie of milk kefir, frozen mixed berries or mango, agave nectar, and chia seeds. Love the chia seeds! Let it stand for a few minutes before drinking and it will be nice and thick.

Mmmm. I just bought some Chia seeds at Market of Choice but I admit, I haven’t done anything with them yet. Do they add crunch to the smoothie?

Only if you drink it right away. Chia seeds can absorb 9x their weight in liquid so they actually make a kind of gel as it sits. It might be too thick with your yogurt, but it’s perfect for kefir since that makes a runnier smoothie. I’ve also been stirring them into my juice and water kefir every day to have a drink that is a little like bubble tea.

Howdy, just found your blog and look forward to going back through older posts. Here is my smoothie recipe, which I drink each weekday morn:
1 banana
2/3 cup berries (i buy a bag of frozen mixed at KossKo)
5 frozen cherries
2/3 cup organic frozen spinach
2 tbsp minced citrus zest (i zest all citrus, mince it and keep a small container in freezer)
liquid whey (from our homemade slow cooker yogurt)
flax seed, hemp seed, chia seed, almond meal
tumeric, powdered ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, poppy seeds
I had this recipe for a while, but felt something was missing. The idea for the zest came to me in a dream, and a quick internet search will inform you of its benefits. Don’t throw those peels away until you zest ’em!
